Prof. Alptekin Çetin said, “There is an addiction process caused by nicotine in the person’s brain. After this addiction process emerges, it may be necessary to move to an appropriate treatment process.” Asst. Prof. Çetin pointed out that during the treatment process, detailed psychological evaluations and brain scans of the patient are performed, and an appropriate treatment plan is created together with the patient and their relatives, emphasizing that the process is managed holistically according to the client's condition. Psychiatrist Asst. Prof. Alptekin Çetin from Üsküdar University NPİSTANBUL Hastanesi provided information about e-cigarette addiction, nicotine addiction, and the diagnosis and treatment processes of this addiction. **E-cigarette addiction is nicotine-induced and requires treatment!** Asst. Prof. Alptekin Çetin stated that e-cigarette addiction is, unfortunately, a type of addiction that is replacing cigarette addiction today, and said, “It is highlighted as a different fashion or style by tobacco companies, especially among young people, as well as women and men.” Asst. Prof. Çetin reminded that today, tobacco products are presented to addicts and young people in different formulas, such as heated tobacco products, with electronic devices in various colors, and he said, “What fundamentally forms here is nicotine addiction. In other words, there is an addiction process caused by nicotine in the person's brain. After this addiction process emerges, it may be necessary to move to an appropriate treatment process.” **During the treatment process, medication, psychotherapy, and if necessary, brain stimulation therapies are applied! ** Asst. Prof. Alptekin Çetin noted that there are many different treatment instruments, especially for cigarette addiction, in addiction treatment, and said, “First of all, it is necessary to know the patient well.” Asst. Prof. Çetin, pointing out that detailed brain scans are performed to understand the nicotine addiction process in the patient’s brain, said the following: “In addition to these examinations, the patient's psychological profile is also evaluated, and an appropriate treatment plan is created together with the patient and their relatives. After the treatment process, medication therapies, such as nicotine replacement and nicotine replacement therapies, are applied. In addition, psychotherapy processes, meaning therapies conducted with a suitably trained psychologist, also form an important part of the treatment plan. When necessary, brain stimulation therapies are also among the treatment options for clients deemed suitable.” **After evaluations, the treatment plan is addressed holistically! ** Asst. Prof. Alptekin Çetin stated that a similar process is experienced in the treatment of e-cigarette addiction, and concluded his words by saying, “Firstly, the client's condition is evaluated in detail. Detailed psychological evaluations and examinations, along with tests performed with support from an internal medicine physician if necessary, determine the person's psychiatric condition, addiction severity, and other problems in their daily life.
