In the workshop, held in two sessions and three groups with the participation of experts in the field, the current situation in Turkey in terms of health tourism, stakeholders, and the strengths and weaknesses of human resources working in this field were discussed. In this context, points to be considered in the content and presentations of the training programs to be provided were also addressed. ** ## İçerik ![](https://cdn.uha.com.tr/content/files/img-2288-240124052912.JPG) The opening speeches of the workshop, held at Üsküdar University NP Health Campus Ibn-i Sina Auditorium, were delivered by ÜSEM Deputy Manager Bengisu Altınten, ÜSEM Manager Mert Akçanbaş, SATUMER Manager Dr. Lecturer Yusuf Baktır, and Faculty of Medicine Dean and SATUMER Advisory Board Member Prof. Dr. Haydar Sur. ![](https://cdn.uha.com.tr/content/files/img-2285-240124052934.JPG) Fırat Tarhan, Board Member of NPİSTANBUL Hospital, and Selçuk Uysaler, Secretary General of Üsküdar University, also attended the workshop. ## ![](https://cdn.uha.com.tr/content/files/img-1923-240124051842.JPG) ## **Mert Akçanbaş: “This workshop will be the beginning of the work we will do…”** ÜSEM Manager Mert Akçanbaş, stating that they want the sector to continue with higher quality by making good use of the opportunities provided; “Increasing professional competency and raising the profession and quality are our understanding, as required by the objectives of continuous education centers. We have been striving for this for years. We are trying to achieve this with the training we provide. On this extremely important issue for our country, such as health tourism, we immediately took action to realize this at the point of the opportunities recognized by our Ministry of Commerce. We realized that we need the ideas of experts in the field like you. I hope this workshop will be the beginning of the work we will do. By making good use of this opportunity provided to us, we want this sector to continue with higher quality and in a way that will make our country proud.” ## ![](https://cdn.uha.com.tr/content/files/img-1935-240124052507.JPG) ## **Dr. Lecturer Yusuf Baktır: “My first activity that I could propose as SATUMER Director”** SATUMER Director Dr. Lecturer Yusuf Baktır, emphasizing the importance of receiving training to improve health tourism; “With the support of our university's senior management and academic staff, we applied for this protocol, and we are proudly before you as the first university in Istanbul to receive this protocol. The Ministry of Commerce encourages not only institutions and organizations in health tourism but also clinics, agencies, and all tourism service providers to receive training to improve the employment conditions of their personnel. Within the scope of this incentive, it has been decided that if these trainings are received from the institutions with which it has a protocol, i.e., our institution, 60% of the paid fee will be reimbursed as a grant. Especially receiving training in foreign languages and health tourism is very important for this sector. When we thought about how to make this training more active and planned, we organized a workshop under the consultancy of our esteemed Prof. Dr. Haydar Sur. In the workshop, we wanted to convey our own plans, ideas, and what we think as trainers, and also to learn if you, who are in the field with your knowledge and experience in the sector, have anything to contribute. In this respect, today is a very valuable day. It is also my first activity that I could propose as SATUMER Director. Therefore, it is a very meaningful workshop.” ## ![](https://cdn.uha.com.tr/content/files/img-1964-240124052434.JPG) ## **Prof. Dr. Haydar Sur: “Provides an incredible advantage for the success of education”** Prof. Dr. Haydar Sur, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and SATUMER Advisory Board Member, stated that they invited key, distinguished individuals with knowledge from critical points; “For the past year, we have been trying to do something in this field. We came together with valuable individuals in Istanbul who have dedicated their lives to this field and established an 'Istanbul Health Tourism Association.' If such a workshop is held, with this being the starting point, the sector can embrace it, share its experiences and roadmaps, and these three critical points provide an incredible advantage for the success of the training for those organizing the education program, helping us understand the expectations of people coming from the sector. We also organized such a workshop. After organizing our training activities based on the outcome of today's meeting, we will consult, 'Has this worked?' We will say, 'This is good, let's continue like this,' and this time we will announce our training programs to the sector. We will also be expecting your support for its ownership.” ## ![](https://cdn.uha.com.tr/content/files/img-1972-240124053357.JPG) ![](https://cdn.uha.com.tr/content/files/img-2173-240124053410.JPG) ## **Held in two sessions and three groups** In Group A, Köksal Köse, President of the Istanbul Health Tourism Association; Süleyman Köse, Vice Chairman of Tuzla İçmeler Board of Directors; Fırat Tarhan, Board Member of NPİSTANBUL Hospital; Prof. Dr. Aktuğ Ertekin, Dean of Üsküdar University Faculty of Health Sciences; Prof. Dr. Güler Cimete, Faculty Member of Üsküdar University; Prof. Dr. Selma Doğan, Faculty Member of Üsküdar University; Yücel Muratoğlu, Representative of EMP Clinics; Ayşe Uğurel and Özlem Apaydın, Managers of Apaydın Global Consultancy; and Vildan Kandemir Bütün, President of the Association of Private Nursing Homes and Elderly Care Centers, took part. In Group B, Cengiz Gül, Board Member of OHSAD; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serkan Yılmaz, Faculty Member of Üsküdar University; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Arslanoğlu, Faculty Member of Health Sciences University; İdris Sarıaydın, Assistant Director of Government Incentives at Acıbadem Health Group; Dilek Batur, Foreign Languages Coordinator of Üsküdar University; Selma Nama, Member of Istanbul Education Academy; Dr. Lecturer Didem Sur, Faculty Member of Bilim University; Mevhibe Kılıç, Founder and Manager of Mor Medikal; Doğukan Akgül, International Patient Center Specialist at Acıbadem Health Group; and Eda Yetimoğlu, Lecturer at Üsküdar University, came together to combine their ideas. In the final session, group ideas were presented to the participants by group representatives and discussed, transformed into presentations.
