**Experts state that increasing lung capacity also means increasing the oxygen taken into the body, and this situation is very important for body health and recovery.**

**Anesthesiology and Reanimation Specialist Prof. Dr. Anış Arıboğan stated that triflo is used to increase lung capacity with breathing exercises, and said, “Especially after surgeries or in patients with chronic lung problems, there may be airway closure, edema, and infection in the air sacs. With triflo exercises, you open these and expel secretions, phlegm, and mucus content.” Prof. Dr. Anış Arıboğan also pointed out that lung capacity tends to close in patients with COPD and asthmatic chronic bronchitis, and said that these individuals should carry triflo with them like a medicine, adding, “After using triflo, we realize how incorrectly and insufficiently we actually use an organ that we constantly use.”**

Üsküdar Üniversitesi NPİSTANBUL Hastanesi Anesthesiology and Reanimation Specialist Prof. Dr. Anış Arıboğan provided information about triflo, which is recommended to patients especially after surgeries, and explained its function.

**Simple but effective…**

Prof. Dr. Anış Arıboğan stated that triflo is a rehabilitation tool used to increase lung capacity with breathing exercises, and said, “It is a simple device developed to increase lung capacity, reduce secretions, and prevent lung collapse, especially in those with chronic lung disease, after operations involving general anesthesia and surgical operations, in cases with general anesthesia, and in intensive care patients removed from artificial respirators. However, it is an extremely effective method. It consists of 3 measured columns indicating lung capacity, and there is a ball inside each of them.”

**“Increased oxygen intake is important for body health and recovery”**

Prof. Dr. Anış Arıboğan stated that triflo can be used bidirectionally, and said, “While used by inhaling in its original form, it can also be used by exhaling when inverted. This allows easy exercise of both the inhalation and exhalation functions of the lung.”

Prof. Dr. Anış Arıboğan pointed out that increasing lung capacity means increasing the oxygen taken into the body, emphasized that increased oxygen intake is very important for body health and recovery, and continued his words as follows:

“In patients with chronic lung problems, there may be airway closure, edema, and infection in the air sacs. With triflo exercises, you open these and expel secretions, phlegm, and mucus content. We saw the best example of this during the Covid-19 pandemic, where many patients were reported not to enter respirators with the aim of increasing lung capacity.”

**Excessive and unconscious use can lead to negative consequences**

Prof. Dr. Anış Arıboğan stated that triflo is produced especially for adults, and said, “In pediatric patients, exercises can also be performed by paying attention to lung capacity and setting an upper limit.”

Prof. Dr. Anış Arıboğan stated that the first column in triflo indicates a lung capacity of 600 cc, the second 900 cc, and the third 1200 cc, and explained how to perform this exercise as follows:

“You start inhaling by placing your mouth on the blowing apparatus outside the device, which consists of 3 columns and 3 balls. The first goal is to lift the blue ball. If your capacity is sufficient, you can also lift the second ball. If you can lift the third ball as well, this means that 1200 milliliters of air movement is provided inside the lung. In our daily lives, the numerical equivalent of applying the 'take a deep breath' command is not known, so it cannot be said to be very effective. However, when a target is set and this application is performed, it positively affects the success and outcome of the process.

Using triflo 3-5 times a day is sufficient. Because in case of excessive application, the carbon dioxide value will decrease, which may lead to fainting, confusion, disorientation, fatigue, weakness, and a drop in blood pressure.”

**“Patients should always carry it with them like a medicine”**

Prof. Dr. Anış Arıboğan stated that triflo is recommended more frequently in postoperative situations, and can be applied every one to two hours with a nurse, saying, “During surgery, especially in long operations, the patient lies down, and in lung and heart surgeries, the lung structure closes because the lung organ is directly worked on. In fact, the most common lung problem in anesthesia and postoperative situations is atelectasis, which is the collapse and closure of a part of the lung. If this condition is not well managed, it can lead to lung problems, including pneumonia, especially in elderly patients, patients undergoing long surgical interventions, and obese individuals. These can also affect the patient's early mobilization and wound healing. In this sense, triflo is strongly recommended, especially in the postoperative period, from the first day onwards.”

Prof. Dr. Anış Arıboğan pointed out that lung capacity tends to close in patients with COPD and asthmatic chronic bronchitis, who have chronic lung problems, and said, “We can consider it a continuously used preparation that should be with the patient like a medicine, to keep the airways and air sacs open in these individuals, and more importantly, to be able to expel the accumulated mucus secretion, phlegm, and, when necessary, bacteria-laden dirty material from the lungs, to keep the airways clean, and to improve oxygen exchange.”

**“We realize with triflo that we use our lungs incorrectly and insufficiently”**

Prof. Dr. Anış Arıboğan reminded that physiologically, inhalation is short and exhalation is long, and said, “This duration can be equal, but it is recommended that inhalation is short and exhalation is long.”

Prof. Dr. Anış Arıboğan underlined the importance of using the diaphragm during inhalation and concluded his words as follows:

“Using the intercostal muscles and pulling the abdomen upwards is important. Preferably, breathing should be performed with the mouth closed and using the full nasal capacity. When you place your hand on your stomach, you should inhale by pulling yourself forward as if smelling a flower, pulling it upwards, and then exhale slowly. It may be difficult to apply and perform this in our daily lives. However, when we perform it with triflo, we suddenly find ourselves breathing correctly. Because you set a goal and try to increase it. After using triflo, we realize how incorrectly and insufficiently we actually use an organ that we constantly use.”
