## Özet
Experts state that neural therapy is a complementary treatment method aiming to regulate impaired electrical transmission in the nervous system, and that this method contains low-dose local anesthetics.
## İçerik
Emphasizing that the aim is not to create anesthesia, but to regulate the impaired electrical impulse transmission in nerve cells, Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Specialist Dr. Asiye Gülsüm Kakı said, “The effect of neural therapy is a treatment method that provides body regulation not only locally but also through its systemic effect.” Dr. Kakı stated that disturbing fields such as pains, surgical scars, traumas, and infections can be targeted with neural therapy, but also noted that it cannot be applied in some cases.
Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Specialist Dr. Asiye Gülsüm Kakı from Üsküdar Üniversitesi NPİSTANBUL Hastanesi provided information about what neural therapy is, how it works, and in which situations it is used.
**Impaired electrical impulse transmission in nerve cells can be regulated with Neural Therapy!**
Stating that neural therapy is a complementary treatment method performed by injecting very low doses of local anesthetics into specific points to regulate nervous system disorders in the body, Dr. Asiye Gülsüm Kakı said, “The aim here is not to create anesthesia, but to regulate the impaired electrical impulse transmission in nerve cells.”
Dr. Kakı stated that the local anesthetics used in neural therapy, in low doses, provide a regulatory effect on ion channels and membrane stability, adding, “Thus, anti-inflammatory, vasodilator, and neuromodulatory effects emerge. Thanks to this effect, neural therapy regulates the autonomic nervous system, helps balance impaired electrical fields (disturbing fields) in the body, supports blood circulation and tissue nutrition, and contributes to the reduction of pain and functional disorders. In short, the effect of neural therapy is a treatment method that provides body regulation not only locally but also through its systemic effect.”
**Neural therapy aims to reduce the effect of disturbing fields!**
Clarifying the definition of disturbing fields in neural therapy, Dr. Asiye Gülsüm Kakı said the following:
“Conditions such as previously undergone surgical scars, traumas, infections, and dental and jaw problems in the body can create continuous stimulation on the nervous system, leading to complaints in other areas. Neural therapy aims to reduce the effect of these disturbing fields. By regulating the impaired electrical transmission created by disturbing fields, it ensures the regulation of the autonomic nervous system.”
**Neural therapy can be preferred for many diseases!**
Referring to the situations in which neural therapy can be preferred as a supportive treatment, Dr. Asiye Gülsüm Kakı stated, “Head, neck, and lower back pains, migraine and tension-type headaches, muscle and joint pains, fibromyalgia, nerve compressions, sports injuries, post-surgical or post-traumatic pains, digestive system dysfunctions, menstrual irregularities and some gynecological complaints, stress, and autonomic nervous system imbalances are among the diseases where neural therapy can be used.”
**How is Neural Therapy Applied?**
Noting that in neural therapy application, a detailed history is first taken from the patient, including the onset of complaints, triggering causes, past infections and operations, and dietary habits, Dr. Asiye Gülsüm Kakı said, “Then, a detailed physical examination is performed.”
Dr. Kakı stated that points such as trigger points, nerve exits, and scars (wound tissues) are determined for injection, and added, “Injections are made to the determined points. Although the application is generally performed with thin-tipped needles, deep injections may be preferred in some disturbing field or organ pathologies, and in ganglion injections (injections made into nerve nodes).”
**Neural Therapy cannot be applied in some cases! **
Emphasizing that the number of sessions varies according to the person and the complaint, Dr. Asiye Gülsüm Kakı said, “After injection, various reflex responses (called phenomena in neural therapy) may be observed in patients. These phenomena guide the planning of the injection site and frequency.”
Dr. Kakı, also providing information on who neural therapy cannot be applied to, concluded her words as follows:
“It is not applied to those with local anesthetic allergies, those with serious heart rhythm disorders, pregnant women in some special cases, and those with bleeding disorders. After neural therapy, redness at the injection site, short-term dizziness, and a temporary increase in pain may occur.”
