Our psychological health is as important as our physical health. Our psychology, just like our body, needs balanced and proper nourishment. For this, emotion management is important. Emotion management means managing the chemical pharmacy in our brain. For a person to manage their psychology well means to manage their brain chemistry well. In resource management for investments, there is a pool formula. You will keep the pool large. You will keep love, our most important psychological resource, expansive. We will be generous with love.

Before the 90s, emotions and thoughts were shown as sources of psychology. After the 90s, especially with brain studies, the concept of neuroscience entered our lives. Neuroscience researched the impact of emotions and values on human behavior.

In the 2000s, behavioral economists received the Nobel Prize. These scientists investigated the effect of psychological resources on human purchasing behavior and economic behavior. The role of psychological factors was investigated. In 2002, Daniel Kahneman was awarded the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences 'for having integrated insights from psychological research into economic science, especially concerning human judgment and decision-making under uncertainty'.

Humans were considered *Homo economicus*, meaning it was said, 'Man is an economic being.' According to this understanding, humans act solely with their reason. They meet their basic needs. They perform profit and loss analysis and make decisions accordingly.

**The psychological dimension cannot be ignored**

Later it was stated, 'Humans are not *Homo economicus*, but *Homo psychologicus*.' That is, according to this new understanding, humans are also psychological beings. They are not content with eating, drinking, and reproducing like other living beings. When we ignore the psychological dimension of humans, we keep them at a primitive level.

Eating, drinking, and reproducing are the needs required for a human to continue their life. However, humans are beings who think abstractly, conceptually, and symbolically. Due to this characteristic, humans have psychological resources. The view emerged that these resources also need to be managed and invested in.

**Humans make investments in safe areas**

Once this view was scientifically confirmed, social scientists and economists adopted this information. Japanese-American political scientist Francis Fukuyama, in his book titled 'Trust', emphasizes the feeling of trust. For trust to form in a person, their fear must be eliminated. When investing, people feel a sense of trust more than basic needs and invest in topics they love. This understanding broke all conventional wisdom. When marrying, people marry someone they trust. When investing, they truly stay in areas they trust. Trust is very important. They make their investments in safe areas and on subjects they love.

Due to these characteristics, resource management began to be rewritten for humans. 'Humans are not rational beings. When making optimal decisions, they perform profit and loss calculations not only based on self-interest but also on trust and love,' it was stated. The question of how we will manage emotions emerged from this. Professionals working in the field of psychology need to do something here. Problems and violence increased. Errors in companies increased. In the 2008 crisis, greedy CEOs were responsible for the crisis. Following this, many universities in the US introduced ethics courses. They taught ethical values as a subject.

Humans are not just rational beings, but also psychological beings. Emotions and values need to be taken into account. What do we understand by emotional and cognitive investment? The word 'bilişsel' (cognitive) entered Turkish as psychological terminology. It hasn't fully settled in Turkish. In fact, the word that best corresponds to this concept is 'mental investment'. There is a mind above our brain. The mind is also related to the quantum universe. Neuroscience revealed this.

**Psychology is summarized in 3 words: Mind, brain, culture**

This is stated with reasoning like, 'There is a P300 wave in the brain. The decision-maker is not the brain, but there must be a holographic brain above the brain.' This is currently being researched. Ultimately, when making decisions, humans decide not only with their reasoning and intellect but also with their emotions, excitements, and cultural values. Psychology is summarized in three words: Mind, brain, and culture. When these three concepts come together, a human becomes human. Instead of 'mind', 'reason' can also be used. It is referred to as 'Mind, brain and culture'. Human is the sum of these three.

**Emotion management is the management of the chemical pharmacy in the brain**

Humans are not solely composed of emotions. Nor are they solely composed of thoughts. Our culture has made a synthesis of mind and heart. What is meant by 'heart' here is emotion. It is not the physical heart. The 'heart' here, as an Arabic root, comes from the word *İnkılap* (revolution/transformation). It is the organ that transforms, changes, converts, like converting sound energy into electrical energy, or heat energy into electrical energy. Therefore, the connection of the heart with our emotions and the chemicals in the brain has been determined. In fact, emotion management means managing the chemical pharmacy in our brain. For a person to manage their psychology well means to manage their brain chemistry well.

**Purpose and scope must be determined**

What is the basic principle in resource management? In resource management, there is SWOT analysis. When making a decision, a person looks at their strengths and weaknesses. They look at the possibilities, opportunities, and threats ahead. Accordingly, what is the best course of action? To determine the best course of action, purpose and scope management are needed first. We need to project the situation in our minds. For this, first the purpose will be determined, then resources will be identified, strengths and weaknesses will be defined, a roadmap will be drawn, and we will plan where to make strategic accumulations.

**Beware the perfectionism trap!**

Time management is as important as monetary resources and equipment resources. The individual will determine resources according to their importance and priority. Our ancestors have a very beautiful saying: 'The most important is superior to the important'. There is 'most important', and then there is 'more important'. While striving for 'the best', people of our age miss many things. They make the mistake of not being able to do anything at all. This is one of the mental traps, the perfectionism trap. While aiming for perfection, they get stuck on one issue and cannot move on to the next step. Because they cannot move on, they fall into the trap of not being able to do anything. For example, a student gets stuck on a question in an exam. While thinking, 'Why can't I do this question? I must do it,' they cannot put it aside and continue. They lose time.

**Hasty, impatient, angry, and anxious people do not live long…**

This situation is actually a resource management error. They cannot manage the resource of time. There are similar situations in emotional resources. You experienced an event and got angry. Even if this anger is negative, it is an emotion. The five horsemen of darkness are resentment, anger, hatred, jealousy, hostility. These emotions cause the brain to secrete acid-like chemicals. If they don't subside within a few hours, they start to damage organs. For this reason, hasty, impatient, constantly angry, and constantly anxious people do not live long. Individuals with what we call Type A personality suffer heart attacks, stomach bleeding at an early age, or their immune systems collapse, leading to cancer. Type A personality is an extremely stress-inducing personality.

**We will keep the pool of love wide**

In resource management for investments, there is a pool formula. You will keep the pool large. You will keep love, our most important psychological resource, expansive. We will be generous with love. Some are miserly with love. We should express love as an emotional language. The language of love doesn't necessarily mean 'I love you'; we can express love in other ways too. What is important is that it is sincere.

**Intention is also a psychological resource**

The eye, face, and heart must be in unison. In a person who achieves this, a tremendous intention emerges. Intention is also a psychological resource. Good intention is a magic word. There are studies on 'good intention and the neurobiology of intention'. In individuals with good intentions, emotional mirror neurons in the brain are active. They activate areas related to positive emotions in the other person's brain, and emotional mirror neurons in the brain, like an internet, activate and 'communicate'.

**Being able to use the pool wisely is also important**

In resource management, it is important to enlarge the pool and then use it correctly and wisely. You must first give so that you can then manage. In education, teachers, mothers, and fathers must be generous with love. When a child makes a mistake, there is no need for violence or shouting. You will give love to the child.

**Reinforcing the positive aspect is essential**

What is true success in education? Reinforcing the positive aspect is essential; punishment is the exception. For academic and life success in education. For a child to be successful, they must love the lesson. And to love the lesson, they must love the teacher. That's not enough. For the child to love the teacher, the teacher must love the student. If this chain of love revolves, the child eventually becomes successful.

**Mental investment is needed to make life meaningful**

All of these make life meaningful. It is important for a person to know themselves, learn to manage their emotions, and manage emotions, thoughts, and values as a resource. To achieve these, you will first make emotional and mental investments. What is mental investment? You will make your mind wise. To make it wise, emotions need to be added to reason. A synthesis of mind and heart is needed. For this, a person needs to learn high moral values. By using our mind and heart, we can increase our emotional and cognitive resources and investments.
