Üsküdar Üniversitesi Founding Rector, Psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, made evaluations on creation and intelligent design.

Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan stated that the issue of creation and intelligent design is a highly debated topic, especially in the scientific world, and said, "Developments related to neuroscience, in particular, revealed this. In 2014, Arizona University and Columbia University published the Post-Materialist Science Manifesto. This manifesto states, 'As the secrets of the human brain are unraveled, many sciences will be rewritten.'"

**Developments in Neuroscience Merged with Artificial Intelligence**

Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, drawing attention to the fact that developments in neuroscience have merged especially with artificial intelligence, said, "This is even called cognitivetional neuro science, or computational neuro science psychiatry. This means that the human state of mind, which we call emotions like joy or fear, has become calculable. Because brain signals can be tracked."

**Our Brain Signals Are Used in the Diagnosis of Diseases**

Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, referring to a study published last week on the BBC, said, "It has been revealed that the brain waves of two people who understand each other start working at the same rhythm after a while. Our brain signals are meaningful signals. Our brain signals are used in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases."

Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan said that neurologist Prof. Dr. Moran Cerf and his team, who work on the synchronization of the brain's electrical signals, determined that the brain waves of people who spend time together also start to appear 'similar' over time. Tarhan said, "Prof. Cerf, emphasizing to BBC reporters that these waves can even be exactly the same in two human brains in some cases, stated, 'In people who spend time together, harmony is created in both brains. Even after just two weeks, two people watching the same movie, reading the same books, sharing the same experience, and simply talking to each other; they develop common patterns in terms of language, emotion, and perspective.' According to Prof. Cerf, this 'brain twinning' that develops over time can occur in emotional relationships as well as social ones. Prof. Cerf explains the result of their work as follows: 'The best decision you can make in life is to wisely choose who you spend your time with.'"

**The Human Brain Acts and Transforms into Action if it Believes**

Prof. Dr. Tarhan noted that until the 1990s, science only said "I think, therefore I am," meaning it accepted reason as a guide. He said, "But after the 90s, a book called 'Descartes' Error' was written, and then emotions also entered the scope of science. As a result of brain research, areas responsible for emotions in the brain were identified. In the early 21st century, it was determined that the human brain is not actually an organ that thinks, feels, and decides, but rather an organ that believes. Because if the human brain believes, it acts and transforms it into action. Like the enter key on a computer, belief in the brain performs that function. When the brain believes in a topic, when it believes what someone tells it, when it believes their story, when it believes something wrong, it writes it to the correct information file and makes decisions accordingly. The brain is also an organ of belief."

**Now the Universe is Digitally Based**

Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan noted that quantum physics comes into play when considered within the framework of the brain and belief, and said the following:

"There is consciousness, there is quantum consciousness. Quantum consciousness, along with consciousness studies on the brain, led us to quantum dynamics. In quantum dynamics, humans are only subjective experiencers; humans are only observers. We exist when we observe; we do not exist when we do not observe. Currently, according to quantum dynamics, there is no such thing as matter. According to string theory, there are only energy transitions in the universe. Thus, everything in the universe is interconnected. The biggest truth currently identified is the truth of connectivity. All of this shows that everything in the universe works with connectivity. Everything in the universe is interconnected. We are in a quantum universe. The universe was previously considered matter-based, then said to be energy-based, but now the universe is digitally based."

**The Universe is a Design**

"Since the universe is digitally based, the universe is a design," said Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, adding, "If there is a design, for example, you found a watch while walking on the road. Finding this watch means that watch has a master. You would say there is an artisan, an intelligence behind it. In the same way, when you find a watch, you think like this, but when you see an insect, when you see a mosquito, isn't there art there? A mosquito emerges from an egg, and within a few months, it becomes a mosquito. Think of a human; from a blood clot, a living human being forms within 9 months and 10 days."

**There is a Series of Rules in Human Existence and Creation**

"Cells divide continuously. The correct decision must be made at each division. In this mathematical modeling, probability calculations have been made regarding a sperm and egg combining to become a human being after 9 months and 10 days by making the correct decision at each division. This is called an in silico experiment, a thought experiment. It is an experiment related to probability calculations made in a computer environment. Here, probability calculations are made; according to probability mathematics, there is a telomere at the end of a DNA, which indicates the lifespan of the DNA; there are programmed cell deaths. The number of times a cell will multiply, the probability of these telomere amino acids coming together, the probability of them coming together by random winds and accidental ways, is calculated. It amounts to 10 to the power of 652, meaning 10-15 amino acids coming together randomly... According to these mathematical probability calculations, probabilities above 10 to the power of 50 are impossible. This 10 to the power of 652 is just the amino acid chain of the telomere, which means it is impossible for a cell to become a human being without external control, according to probability calculations. This means there is a series of laws here. Just as there is a series of laws for rain, you know when the sun will rise, there is a series of laws. There is also a series of rules in human existence and creation. What does this series of rules show? How can such a perfect artist, master... Both complex and perfect."

**A Perfectly Functioning System is Possible with Intelligent Design**

Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan noted that research on how such a system works has been carried out in mathematical modeling, and said that it has come to the point where this is only possible with intelligent design. Tarhan, talking about the working system of intelligent design, said, "In the universe and in its existence, there is first a digital database. Before this digital database, information is needed. Just as a watchmaker needs information when making a watch, first, not the repairer, but the designer's drawings, technical details, and precise calculations are needed. In such a situation, we can digitize information. All information is converted to digital format and can be transferred. In such a case, there is digital information, but that is not enough; a design must be made. Calculations must be made along with the design. Design and calculations are made with digital data, and then energy and physics science emerge. Physics science is the branch of science that ensures life, movement, and the dynamism of the universe. After that, there is chemistry, the science of matter. Organic substances, inorganic substances. Inorganic substances are carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen. Organic substances are what make living things. Protein, carbohydrates, etc. Here, chemistry deals with inorganic and organic substances. In the fourth stage, biology, the science of living things, comes into play. Within the hierarchy of all these sciences, there is a design from the very beginning."

**Random Evolution Has Run Its Course**

Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, noting that where there is intelligent design, there must be an intelligent designer, said, "In the state of Louisiana, USA, intelligent design courses were introduced as an alternative to evolution classes by court order. In fact, I believe that evolution itself is currently evolving. I think that random evolution has currently run its course, that the scientific basis of accidental existence has disappeared, and that it has lost its lifespan."

Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan stated that when probability calculations are made in a laboratory environment, it becomes clear that there must be an external intelligence, and said, "That is why there are 4,300 religions in the world. All these religions claim to be the most correct. Scientific methodology will show us which one is correct."

**There Must Be a Power from Outside the Universe**

Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan noted that when the Big Bang, considered the first beginning of the universe, occurred 13.5 billion years ago, time and space began, and said, "Therefore, the thesis that best explains existence is that of a being beyond time and space. But there must be a power that knows everything, controls everything, has power over everything, has will, has wisdom, and has an absolute knowledge, will, and power to do everything correctly in the right place. That is, there must be a power from outside the universe. We can only state this as a necessary being, as proof, but it is necessary to correctly conceive of it, to correctly conceive of God."

**Wisdom is Greater Than Knowledge**

Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan noted that when looking at the perfect order in the universe, everything progresses very quickly, practically, and perfectly, and said, "When you consider all these, there is great knowledge, great will, great power, and great wisdom behind them. Wisdom is greater than knowledge. The only being with that search for meaning is humans. Humans ask, 'Why do I exist?' They ask, 'Why is there death?' Humans are the only beings who try to explain death, the only beings who question death. This is within existence. It is necessary to confront death and provide an explanation for it. Because if we don't have a correct philosophy of life regarding death and the afterlife, this world is very meaningless. Therefore, if the best creation thesis related to existence is monotheistic creation, when quantum science, physics, and neuroscience combine, we can say here that the creator is a necessary being and that this is the most reasonable explanation in such a situation. Scientific evidence suggests that humans who use their reasoning should revise their beliefs accordingly."
