The signed protocol aims to contribute to Turkey’s knowledge economy and innovative entrepreneurship ecosystem. Within the scope of the cooperation, projects are also aimed in the fields of technology, entrepreneurship, and education. In this context, Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan emphasized that young people who think in the medium and long term motivate their teachers more, and stated that students should be educated not only for a career ideal but also for society, humanity, and science. Tarhan, pointing out the importance of including students in the team, advised that teachers should guide students and conduct research together. Üsküdar Üniversitesi Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Türker Tekin Ergüzel, Medeniyet University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Yaşar Bülbül, Üsküdar Üniversitesi Secretary General Asil Barış Bağ, and Medeniyet University Teknopark General Manager Ali Ramazan Tak also attended the signing ceremony. ![](https://cdn.uha.com.tr/content/images/whatsapp-image-2025-05-17-at-012412-250517012701.jpeg) ## **Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan: “Currently, there is an incredible climate of possibility”** Emphasizing that there is no social transformation without mental transformation, Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan said; “Universities have 4 main functions. The first is education. There is only an education-focused perspective. The second pillar is R&D, the third pillar is informing society, and the fourth pillar is the transformation of knowledge into products. Years ago, we had some old professors at the university. I used to say 'commercialization of knowledge'. Some of our professors would object, saying 'We cannot do business.' There's a saying, 'Software is harder than hardware,' meaning it's harder to change prejudices. Social transformation does not happen without mental transformation. This is the skill and method of the 21st century. Both sides benefit together. So, the approach here of 'I produce knowledge, I present it to the world. Let whoever do whatever they want.' is an old approach. This happens by working with those who apply it in the field. It happens through joint projects. If there is no university-industry cooperation, there is no future. It is great that we, as two universities, have the same vision. Many steps can be taken here with this. Especially in the fields of health, biotechnology, and other artificial intelligence areas, there is currently an incredible climate of possibility related to this. We need to give this vision to our youth. We need to educate our youth not just to save today, not just for a career ideal, but by asking what they will do for society, humanity, and science. If we can raise young people who think in this medium to long-term way, they motivate their teachers more. One way to motivate them is to create demand. If demand is created, there is a need. If we include the student in the team, we even use this in the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law issue. For daughters-in-law who have problems with their mothers-in-law in family problems, we say, 'Include your mother-in-law in the team.' She calls her mother-in-law and asks, 'How did you make the dolma?' The mother-in-law is pleased and says, 'She will take good care of my son.' This way, you have included her in the team. So, you don't need to make big sacrifices for some things. If a student asks a teacher 'how about we do this or that in the project?', and the teacher knows, they tell. If they don't know, they research together. Çelik said; “We want to carry the contacts between the two universities further. We hope that university-industry cooperation will also bring us together under new headings. May God make it a source of good. To many beautiful collaborations…” ## **The Protocol Covers Many Different Areas** The protocol covers incubation programs, technology transfer office services, and various training and consultancy activities.
