## Özet

**Psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan stated, "War trauma causes more trauma than a natural disaster. Because it is a trauma caused by human hands." He drew attention to the fact that a large majority of those harmed by war are children. Emphasizing that children can turn into crime machines after war, Tarhan said that wars leave behind post-traumatic stress disorder and depression.**

Psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan drew attention to the aggressive impulses in the human brain according to neuroscience.

Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan reminded that Freud and Einstein's correspondence on the subject of war has become a book, explaining that humanity is a being capable of killing its own race, its own kind, and that Einstein and Freud could not find an answer to the question of why this is the case.

## **Excessive lust makes one aggressive…**

Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan noted that world-renowned philosophers talked about 3 basic emotions in humans: the first being wrath, or anger; the second, lust; and the third, the emotion of reason, meaning power and strength. He said, “For example, the excessive escalation of wrath, the feeling of anger, leads to aggression and war. This is also valid in this era. Excessive lust also makes one aggressive. It makes one aggressive without regard for rules, morality, or honor.”

## **According to neuroscience, there is a predisposition to aggression**

Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan stated, "According to neuroscience, there are indeed aggressive impulses and tendencies in the human brain. There is no predisposition to crime, but there is an aggressive tendency." He explained that if a person with an aggressive tendency directed their aggressive impulse towards sports at a young age, they would have expressed themselves in an acceptable area, but if they did so without rules, they would emerge as a cruel, merciless, heartless person, without regard for anyone, including children.

## **Raised with the ego of 'you have no equal in the world'…**

Tarhan also drew attention to another human characteristic not found in other living beings, apart from aggression. Giving Hitler as an example, he noted that Hitler's ego was somewhat inflated by his mother telling him 'you have no equal in the world,' and that he grew up hardworking but with corrupted moral norms and low conscientious intelligence.

## **Narcissism resulting from the power exercised by Israel and the US**

Prof. Dr. Tarhan stated, "The most ruthless, merciless person is the narcissist." He added that what Israel and the US are currently doing in the Palestine-Israel war is entirely power intoxication and narcissism born of power.

Speaking about this, Prof. Dr. Tarhan said, "In history, narcissistic individuals, like Hitler, achieve temporary success, shed blood, children die, people become victims and oppressed, but as a result, they end up in the dustbin of history." He stated that these individuals leave behind post-traumatic stress disorder and depression.

## **Events shaking the global conscience are occurring**

Prof. Dr. Tarhan reminded that more civilians die in irregular wars and that civilian deaths are very high in Gaza. He said, "Half of those who die are children and mothers… There is a very serious and ruthless war."

Prof. Dr. Tarhan stated that the United Nations' Declaration of the Rights of the Child, published in 1989, says, "The child's personality can develop fully and harmoniously in a family environment, in an atmosphere of happiness, love, and understanding." He continued, "Now you see the family environment; they are devastating it in war. Children looking pitifully at their deceased mothers, child deaths frozen in blood and dust in their arms… These profoundly shake the global conscience." 

Also touching on the topic of trauma, Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan said, "War trauma causes more trauma than a natural disaster. Because it is a trauma created by human hands. A large majority of those harmed by war are children." 

## **Children can become crime machines after war…**

Tarhan stated that some children become crime machines after wars, and some can become withdrawn and depressed children.

Prof. Dr. Tarhan explained that in war, children look to adults because they cannot make sense of questions like 'Why are we fighting? Why are people killing each other?' He added that if adults remain calm and show a correct stance, children experience fewer symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder.
