In the program, Tarhan, who delved into the topic of “Self and Egoism,” said, “For a person to build their self-wisdom, they need to look at their ‘ene’ not just like a car mechanic, but like a car manufacturer and designer. This characteristic in a person’s ‘self’ is the key perception.” ## İçerik ![](https://cdn.uskudar.edu.tr/uploads/images/2021/06/14/800/nevzat-tarhan-akev-haberi.png) ## **“To reach the absolute charm, 'ene' awareness is necessary”** Tarhan said, “We say ‘I’, but we don’t know the essence of ‘ene’; ‘Ene’ is the key to the divine names (Esma-i İlahiye) which hold hidden treasures; it is the key to the ambiguous charm of the universe, the key to such an ambiguous, unknown charm, the magic of the universe. ‘Ene’ is also an enigma that solves complex mysteries, a charm that inspires wonder, and a very difficult enigma. ‘Ene’ is a Tree of Tuba (Şecere-i Tuba) that has branched out from Prophet Adam until now. That is, the Tuba tree in paradise or the Zakkum tree in hell. It has such a characteristic that has come from Prophet Adam until this time. The key to the universe is in the hands of man and attached to his self (nafs). That key is ‘ene’. That is, if we become aware of our ‘ene’, we will unlock the enigmatic charm. We will open the hidden treasure, and ‘ene’ will become a standard unit (vahid-i kıyasi) so that the attributes of divine lordship (evsaf-ı rububiyet) and divine manifestations (şuunat-ı ulûhiyet) may be known.” ## **“The greatest characteristic of egoism is that 'ene' asks questions”** Tarhan said there is a key characteristic in egoism; “When Allah gives ‘ene’, He first creates Prophet Adam. After creating Prophet Adam, Satan says, “He was made of clay, we were made of fire. So, we are superior to him.” He objects to Allah. Allah has given the ability to object. Satan is a spiritual, conscious being and objects, upon which the angels also say, “Are we not enough for You? Why did You create Prophet Adam?” Allah says, “You do not know, but I know. I taught them the Esma’ül Hüsna (Beautiful Names of Allah).” The most important thing Allah taught here is ‘ene’, which will unlock the charm of Esma’ül Hüsna. ‘Ene’ is such a thing that it unlocks the charm, but there is something in humans that is not present in other angels and spiritual beings. With it, Allah created someone, that is, humanity, who can object to Him, oppose Him, and act accordingly. Satan also opposes this situation, but he has no power to enforce. Humans have free will. For example, if our child asks a question, we say, “Stop, be quiet, you don’t understand,” or “Speak for the elder, be silent for the younger.” Yet, angels ask Allah questions. Satan objects to Allah. That is, Allah wants questions to be asked. So, the greatest characteristic of egoism is that ‘ene’ asks questions. Allah has given even Satan the capacity to question. And in addition to the capacity for questioning, Allah has given humans an ‘ene’ with egoism. That is, there is a key characteristic in egoism.” ## **“There are other purposes in life for humans beyond self-consciousness”** Tarhan, speaking about the key characteristic of ‘ene’; “One day, while walking, Einstein saw people having fun in a boisterous, carefree mood. Upon seeing this group, Einstein said, “If the purpose of life is to eat, drink, and have fun, a spinal cord is sufficient for them. Why is there a big brain?” That is, the purpose of life is not to eat, drink, have fun, and reproduce. There are other purposes in life for humans beyond self-consciousness. Self-consciousness is important for this reason. When we look at animals, their function is to eat, drink, reproduce, and that’s it. They have no world of imagination. They lack self-consciousness, but humans have self-consciousness. To be able to look at an apple with eyes that can see the apple inside the seed is abstract thinking, and this exists in humans. An animal doesn’t think like this. This actually means to make me wise. For example, we look at a car mechanic like a car mechanic, but we will look at the car as a manufacturer and designer. The question of why the universe exists is also a question asked by ‘ene’. If a person can ask the question “Why did Allah create this, why was the universe created this way?” then they can look at a car not like a mechanic, but like a manufacturer and designer. This actually means for a person to look at themselves and their spiritual structure with self-consciousness. One should read the book of the universe with this perspective. When one can do this, ‘ene’ transforms into a key that unlocks the treasure of the charm. Therefore, the literal meaning, the named meaning, and the true reality emerge before us here.” he stated. ## **“Humans are the only living beings who know they will die”** Tarhan said, “Humans are the only beings who are aware of their past and future; Humans are the only beings who say ‘I wish’ and ‘I wonder’. Consider other living beings; they never say ‘I wish’ about mistakes they made in the past. Animals have no conception of what will happen in the future, what will happen to their offspring, etc. Humans have a perception of time, a conception of time, and another gene that is emphasized is the death awareness gene. That is, humans are the only living beings who know they will die. For example, consider other living beings in slaughterhouses, you see them waiting in line. Their turn will come, but they continue to graze; humans are not like that. That is, there is a gallows, you will be hanged there in a hundred days. You are sitting here, and every day you get one step closer. Can a person sit and eat with pleasure? They start asking, “What will happen to me after the actual execution?” So, humans are aware of death, but they have tried to take death and life into their own control. Humans have no right or authority to intervene in death and life; they cannot do it. They have taken death and use it as a reminder for themselves in this way. The Creator of the universe created life and death as a trial, and their existence is not without purpose.
