In the program, which was attended by over 200 preachers from across Turkey, Tarhan made important evaluations on 'The Role of the Father in the Family'. Tarhan stated; 'The father should be equal and disciplined within the home, and he should adjust the dose of this well. Providing discipline is similar to snowfall; if it is continuous and constant, it takes hold. In this way, discipline, if continuous and constant, will be effective. Seriousness is in principles, not in one's face. A father cannot provide discipline with a grim face or rude sentences.'** ## İçerik ![](https://cdn.uskudar.edu.tr/uploads/images/2020/11/20/800/whatsapp-image-2020-11-20-at-16-40-02.jpeg) ## **'Mother and father are living beings, always open to learning'** Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan emphasized that if there is healthy communication among family members, individuals will also be healthy people; 'Self-critical and intelligent people can develop themselves more easily. They can recognize and correct their mistakes without needing trial and error. Such parents also think about how they can be more beneficial to their child, identify their mistakes, rectify them, and the family environment becomes a happier home. The family, mother and father, are living beings, always open to learning. If a spouse and child come home happily, that place is healthy. If they come home in fear, healthy individuals cannot grow there. When family members see home as a shelter, there is healthy communication in the home environment, and thus healthy individuals are raised. If such an environment exists, a sense of trust has been established in that home.' ## **'Seriousness is in principles, not in one's face'** Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan emphasized that continuous discipline would be effective within the home. Tarhan stated; 'If role sharing is not equal within the home, if the father comes home from work and doesn't get involved with his child, thinking the mother already takes care of them, the child is negatively affected, and emotional voids emerge. The father should be equal and disciplined within the home, and he should adjust the dose of this well. Providing discipline is similar to snowfall; if it is continuous and constant, it takes hold. In this way, discipline, if continuous and constant, will be effective. Seriousness is in principles, not in one's face. A father cannot provide discipline with a grim face or rude sentences. The family is a sanctuary, and sanctuaries are currently under threat from new concepts brought by modernism. The phones in the hands of family members have become an open door to the home. Frightening children in such environments is very dangerous. Parents need to calmly explain the dangers to them and make them aware.' ## **5 values that hold the family together!** Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan stated that there are 5 values that hold individuals together within the family; he underlined that healthy families will be formed with these values. Prof. Dr. Tarhan said, 'There are 5 values that hold the family together. These are; Consultation (Meşveret), equality, autonomy, fairness, and love. Problems should be discussed and resolved mutually, everyone should be treated equally in terms of adhering to rules within the family. Furthermore, every individual should feel autonomous, feel that they belong to the family, and also feel free. The mother and father should be fair; there should be a distribution where everyone feels they are in a just environment. At the same time, love should also be equal.' ## **The 5S – 1M rule should be applied for family happiness!** Tarhan, touching upon 3 diseases that weaken the family, noted that Secularism, Individualism, and Social Anomie negatively affect the family. Tarhan gave advice to parents on child-rearing. Tarhan said, 'For happiness in the family, the 5S - 1M rule should be applied; accordingly, for family happiness, there should be; love, loyalty, respect, patience, sincerity, and spirituality.'
