**On the Instagram live broadcast organized by the Malatya Mufti's Office, [Üsküdar University](https://uskudar.edu.tr) Founding Rector, Psychiatrist **[**Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan**](https://www.nevzattarhan.com)** was a guest. Tarhan made important statements regarding the topic titled 'Women's Contribution to the Spiritual Life of the Family'. On the occasion of March 8th, International Women's Day, Tarhan touched upon the place of women in society, stating, “It is necessary to make a distinction regarding women's identity and social life. Their roles are already clear; women's contributions to our spiritual life are significant.”**

## **“Women and men are not superior to each other, but different”**

Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, touching upon women's contributions to spiritual life and the differences between women and men, stated: “The brains of women and men work differently. Women act more with their emotions and are more sensitive than men. There are differences in the frontal lobes of both genders. When a person matures, the frontal lobe is the part that balances logic and emotion. When we look, men whose this region is underdeveloped resort to violence. And women, conversely, may struggle due to not having achieved wisdom. In this era, becoming wise is essential. The combination of academic success and moral success is life's success. In male-female relationships, there is a reluctance to assume roles. Distinguishing and knowing their respective tasks does not create conflict. Women and men are not superior to each other, but different.” he said.

## “**All incidents of violence in society stem from lack of education”**

Tarhan stated that the concept of gender equality shows a different dimension today: “Gender equality refers to equal rights granted to women and men. However, currently, behind the scenes of gender equality, there is a different propaganda. I'm talking about 'genderlessness equality'. Look, this is very important, and one needs to be careful. Parents need to teach children their sexual identity until the age of 18. Young people lost in identity confusion are being observed. It is essential to know what privacy is at a young age. There are also those who distort feminism. If it is about women's rights and freedom, I absolutely agree, but they have turned it into a war between women and men, which is wrong. All incidents of violence in society stem from lack of education.” he concluded.

## “**We Need to Return to the Values of the Golden Age”**

Prof. Dr. Tarhan, touching upon the value Hz. Muhammad (PBUH) gave to family life and women, said: “Our Prophet valued the concept of family and lived accordingly. In his Hadith, he stated that spouses should treat each other with courtesy. And he did not say this unilaterally; he advocated it equally. Divorces are increasing; I always tell young people this: if you have a working spouse, be role-sharing. These are not things to be frowned upon in the Prophet's life. He was never seen raising his voice to his wives. He valued and appreciated them. There was no violence, no shouting in his life. He is our greatest role model. We need to return to the values of the Golden Age.” he said.

## “**Mother is the first teacher in our lives”**

Tarhan emphasized the importance of appreciating mothers, stating that motherhood is sacred, and added: “Women have a very high sensitivity to fear. Motherly instinct exists in every woman. A mother is sensitive to everything. If the role of motherhood were given to a man, he would not be able to care for the child. Mothers' sensitivity is different compared to men. All of these are related to genetic codes, by creation. Mothers are always heroes; no one can take their place. They make great sacrifices. The Holy Quran says, 'Do not even say 'uff' to your parents.' Let's appreciate their value.” he concluded.
