In the program attended by SEDEF founders, SEDEF President Prof. Nevzat Tarhan drew attention to the spiritual meaning of Ramadan, humanity's search for meaning, and the importance of self-control. He emphasized the importance of supporting young people. Association representatives also highlighted the significance of unity, solidarity, and reaching out to people. Tarhan said; “The last 10 days of Ramadan, our ancestors made the Tarawih prayer a tradition during Ramadan and combined it with the Isha prayer. This tradition originated in the Ottoman geography. You know how there are discount seasons, sales happen, and all women rush to buy brands at half price. This is spiritual trade, just like that. A good deed on Laylat al-Qadr becomes like 30,000. So, we have come to this world for spiritual trade. As Rumi also said, ‘We do not live in this world, we pass through this world.’” ## **“The greatest miracle is righteousness (steadfastness)…”** Speaking about SEDEF, Tarhan said; “This is our first iftar since the establishment of SEDEF. Hopefully, these iftars will continue to grow. Perhaps next year, SEDEF will expand with a few more partners, and we will host a larger iftar. As Allah wills, I consider this a spiritual responsibility. I think reaching out to young people and children, and supporting those who reach out to children, is like a divine duty for me. May Allah accept it, insha'Allah. May Allah keep us on the right path. We are in such a time that the greatest miracle is steadfastness. Staying on the right path, staying on the correct line, is very difficult in this era. Seeing young people like this, we admire their steadfastness. It is very precious to see young people who can protect themselves in this time.” he stated. Within the scope of the program, certificates of appreciation were presented to two individuals for their association work and support. ![](https://cdn.uha.com.tr/content/images/ekran-goruntusu-2026-03-16-152216-260316032229.png) ## **Gül Mutlu: “Hopefully, we will do great things with you”** The first person honored with a certificate of appreciation within the iftar program was Gül Mutlu, Founder of the Haydi Tut Elimi Association. Experiencing emotional moments in response to the surprise, Mutlu said; “I am very happy to be with you on this beautiful night. If we have been able to do good work, it is through the grace of my Lord. Hopefully, we will do even greater things with you. I wish you beautiful days.” ![](https://cdn.uha.com.tr/content/images/ekran-goruntusu-2026-03-16-152346-260316032404.png) ## **Havva Gürak: “This world is enough for all of us”** The other individual presented with a certificate of appreciation was Havva Gürak, President of the Dilhan Association, known as ‘Mother Havva’. Emphasizing that her life's purpose is to touch people, Gürak said; “Neither our arrival nor our departure to this world belongs to us, but if we can both develop ourselves and reach out to those who are developing without straying from our path during this process, how fortunate we are. In a period where our geography is so turbulent, it made me very happy and proud that a doyen like our teacher Nevzat takes such steps to shape the world. I wish you all blessed iftars and a blessed Ramadan. May all our prayers on Laylat al-Qadr be for humanity. Şimşek said; “I am a young person who grew up under state protection. I sincerely thank my teacher Nevzat Tarhan, the Haydi Tut Elimi Association, and all associations that supported me throughout my education. Thanks to your support, I can continue my education and look to the future with hope. To my younger siblings here, I want to say this: Don't give up on your dreams. When you take advantage of the support you encounter, this path becomes a very beautiful one. I thank you all again, and I'm so glad you exist, and that you are with us.” ![](https://cdn.uha.com.tr/content/images/ekran-goruntusu-2026-03-16-152718-260316032733.png) ## **From marriage proposal to iftar dinners…** Another emotional and joyful moment was experienced at the organized iftar dinner. At the graduation ceremony of Üsküdar University, which produced its first undergraduate graduates in the 2015-2016 Academic Year, Yusuf Uluocak, a graduate of Occupational Health and Safety, proposed to his girlfriend Havva Melek Saat, a graduate of Electronerophysiology, in front of thousands of people. Years later, the couple reunited, this time with their daughter, at an iftar dinner.
