Tarhan, who made evaluations regarding the topics of “Women's Psychology and Family Communication”; stated: “Women and men should develop relationships based on strong collaboration while preserving their differences.” ** ## İçerik ![](https://cdn.uskudar.edu.tr/uploads/images/2021/03/18/800/whatsapp-image-2021-03-18-at-12-41-29.jpeg)Prof. Dr. Tarhan, addressing the reason for writing his book ‘Women's Psychology’ at the beginning of his speech, said: “I wrote the book in 2001 in New York, when the Twin Towers collapsed as a female imam led prayers in a mosque, and in 2003, when an operation against Saddam was planned in Iraq. At that time, I thought there was a plan involving women. Although women and men are equal, they have psychological and biological differences. I wanted to provide scientific data to those who advocated this view, and based on that, I penned my book 'Women's Psychology'.” ## **“We Must Change Our Life Scenarios”** Tarhan stated that marriage is not about two people being together, but about individuals who grew up in two separate environments getting married; “We have life scenarios, and these scenarios shape us. After getting married, a person becomes closer to their spouse along with their life scenarios. However, one should not expect from their spouse what they expect from their family. Two people need to solve their problems outside the family. We need to change our life scenarios. You might want your spouse to be like your father, which would be very nice, but it is not possible.” he said. ## **“Strong Collaboration Should Be Established by Preserving Differences Between Women and Men”** Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan noted that in line with global developments and changing and evolving conditions, priority should be given to establishing strong collaboration within the differences between women and men, rather than gender equality; “Within the framework of this finding, it should not be understood that the differences between the two sexes are rejected. The idea of 'men changing their masculinity, women changing their femininity, and the world moving towards unisex' is wrong. Both sexes should develop relationships based on strong collaboration while preserving their differences. This is also important in democracy and pluralism. Everyone preserves their cultural identity, but communication intensifies.” he said. ## **“When There is No Bond with the Mother, the Child Becomes Ill”** In the interview, which garnered significant interest from participants, Tarhan stated that the feeling of attachment is a neurobiologically proven emotion; “During my residency, when a child cried in intensive care, mothers were removed. At that time, we somehow harmed the child's feeling of attachment. This is because mother and child are connected and secrete oxytocin. Children in orphanages and care homes frequently fall ill and suffer sudden deaths. When you look, everything is there, they receive care, but diseases emerge because they don't have mothers, because there is no attachment to the mother.
