Gumilev Eurasian National University, opened for signatures approximately a month ago and signed by nearly 390 thousand people, has also come from Ukraine. ** **In a letter signed by Prof. Dr. Nadiye Drobyk, Vice-Rector of Volodymyr Hnatiuk Ternopil National Pedagogical University, one of the oldest higher education institutions in Western Ukraine; the support for the manifesto was emphasized with the statement: ‘We wholeheartedly support the “Universal Human Values and Rights Manifesto”. Gumilev Eurasian National University Rector Prof. Dr. Yerlan Sydykob, the following statements were included: “As Volodymyr Hnatiuk Ternopil National Pedagogical University of Ukraine, we unequivocally support the ‘Universal Human Values and Rights Manifesto’. We believe this manifesto is an important step in the effort to build a just and peaceful world based on dignity and respect for all people. We appreciate the fundamental principles of the Manifesto, as it advocates for the right to freedom, the right to personal security, the right to equal treatment without discrimination, and the right to live in peace and prosperity.” ## **“We believe it will help create a more just and better world…”** The letter also emphasized the statement: “As an educational institution, we are committed to promoting these values and educating our students to be responsible and ethical citizens. We are determined to contribute to the vision presented by this Manifesto and to work for the protection of human rights and the fundamental freedoms of all people. We are ready to cooperate with other organizations and individuals in supporting this important document. We believe that our joint efforts to implement and disseminate the Manifesto’s message will help create a more just and better world for everyone.” ## **Signed by nearly 390 thousand people in approximately one month** The ‘Universal Human Values and Rights Manifesto’, jointly prepared by Üsküdar Üniversitesi and Kazakhstan L.N. Gumilev Eurasian National University, was opened for signatures on May 14, 2024. The Manifesto, which draws attention to the events in the Middle East, Central Asia, Africa, and most recently in Gaza, will be presented to the UN General Assembly and Security Council at the end of this year. In the Manifesto, which has been signed by nearly 390 thousand people to date and consists of 10 articles, it was stated: “As two universities, based on the events that have occurred, we foresaw the need to re-examine universal concepts and ideas. As L.N. Gumilev Eurasian National University and Üsküdar Üniversitesi; we believed that in such a situation, it would be a moral obligation for the university community, which is an environment where human rights and freedoms are experienced and discussed at the highest level, to not remain silent.
