Tarhan made important evaluations under the title 'Being a Conscious Family and Youth'. Tarhan said; 'When we look at young people aged 16-24, we see digital isolation. There is no mutual communication and contact. These young people are currently pursuing short-term pleasures and enjoying their day. Tarhan; "There is a global movement around the world consisting of those who do not feel the need for family or marriage. This is an anti-marriage and anti-family movement that claims family is a traditional imposition. Especially people in Western culture define this as complete freedom. For example, there are open marriages in America. Even if the parties are married, both sides have lovers. They accept this as natural. On the other hand, there is a global movement that says family is not sacred, but the individual is sacred. When you go to couple therapists, they say, 'You are what's important, forget the family, live your life.' I think this is intentionally fostered because the world's population growth is very rapid. Those who do not want population growth are making plans to undermine the concept of family to prevent it," he said. ## **"If we want to fix domestic violence, psychoeducation should be given to men"** Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan emphasized that the patriarchal social structure has ceased to exist, and with women gaining the right to speak, the structure has changed. He spoke about what needs to be done to reduce domestic violence. Tarhan; "Some men experience prolonged adolescence. If you say, 'I'll live as I please, come home at any hour, leave whenever I want, and also stay married,' the young woman of today will not accept this. There is no longer an old patriarchal female society. The women's liberation movement has begun worldwide. Here, women and men will establish a horizontal relationship. Men say, 'I am the boss, I make the rules, whatever I say goes.' This situation naturally prevailed during periods when physical strength was important, during the industrial revolution and agricultural societies, when patriarchal culture was dominant. However, after the 1960s, the women's liberation movement began. Women have the freedom to fully exercise their rights, their rights to equal opportunity, and their rights before the law. Our male culture currently cannot stomach this, and this is the cause of all problems. If we want to fix domestic violence and violence against women, such men need to be given psychoeducation. When problems like violence against women and children begin, you should take the men and place them in a rehabilitation center for fifteen days to a month, depending on the severity of the incident. There, they will learn to be men, to be proper human beings. Punishing them, imprisoning them is not enough," he stated. ## **It's not about preaching to the youth, but being a role model!** Tarhan stated that young people are currently focused on short-term pleasures and living in the moment; "The new generation is anti-marriage. Not only in Turkey, but also in England, there is a 'Loneliness Study' conducted by Manchester University and the BBC on fifty-five thousand people. In this study, 40% of young people aged 16-24 and 27% of those over 75 feel lonely. When we look at young people aged 16-24, we see digital isolation. There is no mutual communication and contact. Their other characteristics are based on the idea of 'why marry, I want to live my life.' These young people are currently pursuing short-term pleasures and enjoying their day. They have no medium or long-term considerations. However, if you speak the same language as this generation, they begin to show you respect. Generational differences have existed throughout history. This is a generation that demands justice. They want people whose actions and words are consistent. In Islam, there is a formal aspect and a moral aspect. These young people are focused on morality, not form. If a person is focused on morality, keeps their word, does not lie, and pays attention to justice and human rights, they accept the formal aspect. Attempting to approach young people formally and give religious education alienates them from religion.
