Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan sent a video message expressing his support for the “Great Family Gathering”, which was organized by the Great Family Platform with the participation of over two hundred non-governmental organizations. ** ## İçerik ![](https://cdn.uha.com.tr/content/images/nevzat-tarhan-1-230918123048.png) Thousands gathered from Istanbul Saraçhane Fatih Monument Park for the Great Family Gathering. Participants walked to Beyazıt Square. I congratulate all NGO formations that were there, supporting this important march from afar and with heart. I have not hesitated to voice the importance of these gatherings, organized in the context of “Genderlessness propaganda should be banned”, on all platforms I have attended to date. Likewise, I will not hesitate to reiterate my thoughts on this matter here in light of scientific data… This movement, known as gay, lesbian, and fluid gender, has two dimensions. One is the dimension of sexual freedom, and the other is the socio-psychological dimension. Especially after the 1960s, roles related to sexuality began to change, following the widespread prevalence of freedom. Sexuality is a role. It is an identity. There is a sexual identity. Why did the genderlessness movement emerge and why is it increasing? Especially in the 2000s, it was debated much more after a genderless priest became an archbishop in the USA. After that, it increased even more. Christian circles could not produce an alternative to this. Because the church is not innocent in this matter. In such a situation, people also began to question themselves about homosexuality. A new area of freedom emerged. If we delve into the socio-psychological-biological side of the issue; gender identity is not genetic! We call it epigenetics. Epigenetics is when environmental upbringing styles cause genetic polymorphism, and this can change. There is evidence that it is not entirely genetic. Specifically, there is an article published in Science in 2019 by Nature magazine. The genes related to gender of 477 thousand people were examined. This is a large study involving Oxford and Harvard. That study was published. It's a study that can be found by searching 'No Gay Gen' on the internet as 'Nature'. In this study, it was investigated whether there is a ‘third gender other than male and female, and if there is any scientific evidence for them?’ and no scientific evidence was found… What is claimed otherwise today is scientifically baseless. In fact, let alone being verified, we can even say it has been disproven. There is no such thing as a third gender. In this context, I would like to draw attention to the importance of the family! Even if children with good parent-child relationships have such an inclination, the child initially imitates and observes, then later gives up. Therefore, this situation is observed in weak families. Two concepts influence this process: weak family ties and bad friendships. It is important to correct these. The solution to this problem is in the hands of the parents. Especially before the age of 10, a child asks their parents questions about gender. If parents use a common language and develop similar attitudes, the child tends to accept their family's truths because they need their parents biologically, sociologically, and psychologically in such situations. However, with the onset of adolescence, feelings of autonomy begin. At that time, the child starts questioning their parents. Whatever the mother or father says, the child starts doing the opposite because the child wants to say, “I've grown up.” Let's not silence our children! It is natural for a child to protest. It is also not healthy for a child of that age to be like a lamb. After adolescence, they can exhibit a completely different personality. Therefore, a child who asks questions and queries is doing the right thing. Let's not silence our children. In our culture, there is a saying 'elders speak, youngsters keep silent'. When you tell a child, “Shut up, you don't understand, you're a child. You don't talk back to adults!”, the child internalizes it. They learn from other places. They learn from social media. Let's talk to the child at home. If we don't know this, let's talk to an expert. Currently, accessing good or bad information is very easy. Without further ado, I would also like to say a few words about the scientific community: It is said, ‘If this child feels this way, let them remain so’. We cannot say that a child who lacks legal capacity, for whom parents are natural guardians, and who does not have the competence to marry or transfer money from a bank, has the competence to change gender. In this period, where feelings often dominate over reason, parents have the right to say no! There is uncertainty in Turkey.
