In this context, a cooperation protocol was signed between Üsküdar Üniversitesi and GENAR. The signing ceremony, held via Zoom Webinar within the scope of pandemic measures, was attended by Üsküdar Üniversitesi Founding Rector Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, Rector's Advisor Prof. Dr. Muhsin Konuk, GENAR General Manager İhsan Aktaş, Corporate Communications Director Tahsin Aksu, Secretary General Selçuk Uysaler, Project Coordinator Dr. Lecturer Aylin Tutgun Ünal, Project Consultant Dr. Nebiye Yaşar, and working group member Dr. Lecturer Zeynep Gümüş. ![](https://cdn.uskudar.edu.tr/uploads/images/2020/12/03/800/nevzat-tarhan.png) ## **Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan: “We are very excited to cooperate with GENAR”** Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan emphasized that the most important factor in establishing cooperation is trust. Tarhan said, “I was excited after hearing about the cooperation agreement with GENAR. Because I believe that trust is the most important aspect in such collaborations, and GENAR gives us this trust through its stance. Once trust is lost, institutions and positions lose their significance. Underpinning trust is being open, transparent, and honest. As Üsküdar Üniversitesi, we attach great importance to these three concepts. There were times when we received criticism for speaking the truth. It's not always good to tell the truth, but especially in times like these, one should not give up on the truth. We have always aimed and succeeded in building a strong relationship of trust with our stakeholders. ## **Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan: “This project is very important for understanding young people”** “This study is an important area for us because the subject is young people. In the past, young people had the characteristic of taking risks for society without distinguishing between left and right. But the digital generation that emerged after the 90s has characteristics of money, power, and fame. During the last period of the Ottoman Empire, Abdülhamit could not speak the same language as the youth, displaying an authoritarian approach. The youth he raised played a role in Abdülhamit's overthrow, and the youth of the subsequent period played a role in the collapse of the Ottoman Empire. For us not to experience these, we need to speak the same language as young people.
