In the January 14 session of the Entangled Histories seminar series, organized with the academic collaboration of Üsküdar University, Rafael J. Pascual from the University of Oxford delivered a presentation on the digital analysis of meter and alliteration in Old English poetry. The seminar was held with public participation.

Conducted in cooperation between Üsküdar University and Insubria University, the seminar series titled Entangled Histories: Borders and Cultural Encounters from the Medieval to the Contemporary Era continued with its fifth session on the evening of Tuesday, January 14, 2026. Featuring Rafael J. Pascual as the guest speaker, the seminar brought together a broad audience from the fields of philology, medieval literature, and digital humanities.

Pascual, who has drawn attention for his digital metrical database project analyzing alliterative patterns in Old English poetry, discussed in his presentation the contributions of combining traditional philological methods with digital analytical techniques to interdisciplinary academic research.

The Entangled Histories seminar series will continue on January 21, 2026, with a talk by Sophie Ling-chia Wei from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, titled “Typology Meets the Yijing: Jesuit Figurists’ Intralingual Translation and the Sinification of Jesus.”

The seminar series, held online and open to the public, will continue to host scholars from various disciplines through the summer months.
