The “Strong Girls Strong Tomorrows Workshop Project: Digital Media Literacy” workshop was organized by the Üsküdar University Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and ÜSÇÖZÜM (Solution-Oriented Women’s Issues Application and Research Center). The workshop, which attracted significant participation, addressed digital identity and gender representations, while students gained awareness through group work and shared discussions.

The workshop was held at Üsküdar University South Campus Sokrates Hall, with ÜSÇÖZÜM Director Prof. Feride Zeynep Güder serving as the moderator and Üsküdar University Library and Documentation Specialist Aliye Rabia Sönmez serving as the workshop instructor.

The goal is to raise awareness on digital identity and gender

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Prof. Feride Zeynep Güder emphasized that digital media literacy is an important topic in daily life and a concept that contributes significantly to awareness.

Group activities were conducted

During the workshop led by Aliye Rabia Sönmez, it was emphasized that the main goal was discussion and the exchange of ideas. Students were asked to reflect on digital identity, visuals used on social media, visual differences between platforms, and gender representations.

Participants were encouraged to evaluate why they prefer different or similar photos on platforms such as LinkedIn and Instagram, to consider the relationship between digital identity and self-perception, and to share their digital experiences. Each group selected a spokesperson to present their discussions transparently, ensuring active student engagement.

Certificates were presented to participants

At the end of the workshop, certificates were presented to students by Prof. Feride Zeynep Güder and Aliye Rabia Sönmez. Following the certificate ceremony, the event concluded.
