Üsküdar University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Neurology, Prof. Sultan Tarlacı's new book "Quantum Brain - Neuroquantology - New Scientific Approach to the Problem of Consciousness Brain" met with the readers.

Published by Üsküdar University Press, the work discusses in detail the relationship between quantum mechanics and the nature of consciousness.

Prof. Sultan Tarlacı: "Quantum mechanics is not the last stage of physical science"

Prof. Tarlacı, who has written many works to date, states in the back cover of his latest book that science is not static and is constantly evolving.

Prof. Tarlacı expressed that "Quantum mechanics is not the final stage of physical science. Despite its precision and reliability, which fits perfectly with the experiments, it will inevitably evolve into other concepts over time, or even into a new physics beyond quantum physics. This is the general approach of science. No matter how ideal and powerful each theory is, it will definitely be replaced by better ones over time. Just like classical (Newtonian) physics, which we accepted as very true in the past and said that there is no need for any other theory anymore, its rules are enough to explain the entire universe and even to understand what is going on in God's mind. His rule lasted for 300 years with a very strong conviction... Then, in an instant, the faith collapsed..."

"It can provide an explanation for what happens to our consciousness after death"

Stating that quantum mechanics can not only explain the physical world, but also shed light on many complex questions about consciousness and mind, Prof. Tarlacı said that "Actually, it was the natural course of science, but it caused deep frustration in many people who did not know about it. Then came the miracle of quantum mechanics. Revealing that quantum mechanics comes into play in our nervous system and flesh brains will give us the opportunity to better understand many things. It can provide an explanation for consciousness, the unity of consciousness, memory, mental content (qualia), different states of consciousness, the sense of 'I' within us, parapsychological phenomena, and even what happens to our consciousness/thoughts after death, which we have difficulty understanding with classical physics."

"It can give us new perspectives and different ways of thinking"

Underlining that even if it is not known for sure whether quantum mechanics has a direct effect on the brain and consciousness, the concepts in this field can enrich our way of thinking, Prof. Tarlacı said that "At worst, quantum mechanics may not be involved in the study of the brain! Even if we accept this, combining our consciousness and other brain features with those of quantum mechanics can at least give us new perspectives and different ways of thinking. At least it makes us do mental gymnastics in a way that will not harm our brains."

Tarlacı told his readers, "Let's start a journey together... A trip to the depths of the brain... Let's reach the knowledge of the future before the future arrives and dream of it..."
