The secret to success is “Working smart with artificial intelligence”
Experts state that high school and university students now use artificial intelligence not only for entertainment but also actively for learning, producing, and achieving academic success. They explain that artificial intelligence systems, which are used for fundamental needs such as preparing assignments, creating presentations, and accessing information, are now directly integrated into exam preparation processes.
Educational Specialist Psychologist Hatice Ada emphasized the importance of advantages such as 24/7 access, personalized content, patient repetition, and real-time analysis offered by artificial intelligence compared to traditional sources. She said, “However, despite all of this, it does not seem possible for it to completely replace human relationships and teacher guidance. The most efficient way of using it lies in seeing artificial intelligence as a complementary tool.”
Psychologist Hatice Ada, an educational specialist at Üsküdar University’s Educational Institutions and Guidance Services, evaluated the increasing use of artificial intelligence among students.
It is not those who work the most, but those who work smart that make a difference...
Psychologist Hatice Ada stated that artificial intelligence has now become a reality that is not only of interest to technology enthusiasts but has also become a part of everyday life for people of all ages. She said, “It increases our speed in accessing information, supports productivity, and facilitates our routine tasks. These systems, which used to be considered optional, are now directly embedded into daily life. It is no longer enough just to know about artificial intelligence; one must be able to work with it and integrate it into life in a smart way. In this new order, it is not only those who work a lot but those who work smart who stand out.”
Artificial intelligence systems are now directly integrated into exam preparation processes...
Hatice Ada noted that especially the younger generations are at the forefront of this transformation and said, “High school and university students use artificial intelligence not only for entertainment but also actively for learning, producing, and achieving academic success. Artificial intelligence systems, which are used for basic needs such as preparing assignments, creating presentations, and accessing information, are now directly integrated into exam preparation processes. So, is it really possible to prepare for an exam using artificial intelligence? The answer to this question depends on the method of use, but many students, teachers, and counselors have already started to evaluate these systems as effective and efficient tools in the exam process.”
Artificial intelligence has transformed into an assistant that also serves strategy
Hatice Ada explained that artificial intelligence-based applications can analyze the topics where the student is weak, explain the reasons for incorrect answers, and reinforce learning with similar examples. She said, “Beyond that, it also contributes to process management by offering break suggestions suitable for the student's attention span. Thus, it becomes an assistant that serves not only knowledge but also strategy. In particular, the ability to provide personalized feedback facilitates the drawing of a road map through which students can monitor their own development. Unlike traditional systems that approach every student in the same way, offering a personalized experience provides a significant advantage.”
Artificial intelligence takes on the role of a ‘nonjudgmental teacher’
Psychologist Hatice Ada stated that some platforms can analyze students' exam histories and create real-time progress charts, saying, “These charts not only support academic achievement but also enhance motivation. Moreover, artificial intelligence being able to handle requests such as ‘asking the same question repeatedly’ or ‘listening patiently’, which are limited in human relationships, makes it attractive for young people. Especially for students who are afraid of making mistakes and who fear being judged by teachers, artificial intelligence takes on the role of a kind of ‘nonjudgmental teacher.’ Students can ask unlimited questions, repeat as much as they need, and progress through the entire process at their own pace.”
It functions almost like a psychological support unit
Ada also noted that in some platforms, artificial intelligence can function almost like a psychological support unit. She said, “With its capabilities such as giving break reminders based on anxiety levels, structuring study blocks, and offering techniques for focus and time management, it can touch not only the student’s cognitive level but also their emotional processes. Although it cannot focus on the uniqueness of a person like a therapist or a guidance counselor can, it can be considered a functional first step in coping with exam anxiety.”
Artificial intelligence can also generate content that has no connection to reality
Ada pointed out that despite all these advantages, it is important not to forget the limitations of artificial intelligence. She said, “Recently, long-lasting outages in platforms like ChatGPT or examples of incorrect information have made it necessary for users to critically filter these systems. Artificial intelligence can occasionally produce content that has no connection to reality, a phenomenon called ‘hallucination.’ This means that the information offered by the system must definitely be verified through other sources.”
They provide personalized support to students
Ada emphasized that the use of artificial intelligence in education is becoming more widespread globally, and she continued her remarks as follows:
“In South Korea, digital textbooks are being integrated with artificial intelligence through government-supported projects, and students’ development is monitored in real time. In the United States, systems that offer micro-lessons tailored to students’ learning styles attract attention. Platforms such as Riiid are reaching millions of students with personalized test systems during exam preparation.”
Although artificial intelligence applications in education are relatively new in Türkiye, they are developing rapidly. While the Ministry of National Education has defined its roadmap with the "Strategy Document for Artificial Intelligence Applications in Education," it has also established the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Big Data Applications under YEĞİTEK. Artificial intelligence-supported assessment and evaluation systems are being tested in pilot schools in Istanbul and Ankara. Additionally, the Ministry of National Education’s artificial intelligence-supported individual learning platform MEBİ and its virtual assistant KANKA provide students, especially those preparing for the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS), with personalized support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Exam systems will inevitably adapt to the transformation in the future
Psychologist Hatice Ada emphasized the undeniable advantages of artificial intelligence compared to traditional resources, such as 24/7 access, personalized content, patient repetition, and real-time analysis, and said, “However, despite all of this, it does not seem possible for it to completely replace human relationships and teacher guidance. The most efficient form of usage lies in viewing artificial intelligence as a complementary tool. Being able to integrate human intelligence and emotion with technology is becoming the most critical skill of this new era. In the future, it appears inevitable that exam systems will also adapt to this transformation. It is expected that assessment systems based on memorization will be replaced by those that emphasize analysis, interpretation, and skill-based measurement. Globally, institutions such as IBM and Pearson are making significant investments in this direction. In Türkiye as well, we are entering a period where similar assessment systems will be piloted more frequently.”
Artificial intelligence is the reality of the present
Educational Specialist Psychologist Hatice Ada pointed out that artificial intelligence can provide strong support during exam preparation, and continued, “However, the real difference is made by those who can wisely combine this technology with strategic thinking, planning skills, and human support. Artificial intelligence is now fully the reality of the present. Those who understand this reality and cooperate with it not only enhance their personal achievements but also become the key actors in shaping the future.”
