As part of World Space Week, awareness activities were held simultaneously across TÜBİTAK affiliated science centers throughout Türkiye under the coordination of TÜBİTAK. Within this framework, Üsküdar University Translational Genomics and Regenerative Medicine Research Center (TRGENMER) brought students together with current research in the field of space studies through the “Space and Space Medicine Meeting” held at the Üsküdar Science Center.

Students met with researchers at Üsküdar Science Center

Within the scope of events organized following the International Astronautical Congress IAC 2025, Dr. Cihan Taştan, Director of TRGENMER, and Beyza Aydın, TRGENMER R&D Coordinator, met with students at the Üsküdar Science Center and held an in depth discussion on space research conducted in Türkiye and scientific studies in the field of space medicine.

During the event, the biological and medical aspects of human space missions, the effects of microgravity on the human body, and the critical importance of health research in space environments were addressed.

Space research goes beyond engineering and technology

In the presentations and interactive discussions, it was emphasized that space studies are not limited to engineering and technology. When approached together with disciplines such as biology, medicine, and genetics, space research holds strategic importance for the future of humanity in space.

The event, which attracted strong interest from students, highlighted the importance of supporting curiosity about space sciences at an early age in order to cultivate a qualified scientific workforce.

The meeting organized within the scope of World Space Week strengthened the bridge between science centers and society, while also providing an inspiring environment that encouraged young people to pursue space and science oriented careers.
