Prof. Demet Gülaldı, Faculty Member at the Department of Child Development within the Faculty of Health Sciences at Üsküdar University, presented her internationally collaborative scientific study through a poster presentation at the conference. Among the authors of the presented study were Assoc. Prof. Ayça Demir Yıldırım and Assoc. Prof. Tuğba Yılmaz Esencan, faculty members from the Department of Midwifery at Üsküdar University Faculty of Health Sciences. The study aims to contribute to the development of standardized practices in the field of perinatal mental health by systematically evaluating the views of clinicians working in different countries.

Researchers from different countries came together

The conference focused on the effects of maternal peripartum stress on fetal and child development and brought together researchers, clinicians and experts from various European countries.

Within the scientific program, topics such as biological markers of perinatal stress, its effects on child development, mechanisms of intergenerational transmission, mental health outcomes and intervention approaches were discussed.

The study aims to contribute to standardized practices

Asst. Prof. Demet Gülaldı’s study titled “Clinician's Acceptability and Feasibility to Use Markers and Assessments for Parental Peripartum Stress (PPS) in Daily Routine: Development and Implementation of a Multinational Cross-Sectional Survey” examined the feasibility and acceptability among clinicians of routinely monitoring parental peripartum stress in clinical practice through markers and assessment tools.

Among the authors of the presented study were Assoc. Prof. Ayça Demir Yıldırım and Assoc. Prof. Tuğba Yılmaz Esencan from the Department of Midwifery at Üsküdar University Faculty of Health Sciences.

Designed as a multinational and cross sectional research study, the work aims to contribute to the development of standardized practices in perinatal mental health by systematically evaluating the perspectives of clinicians working in different countries.

The transfer of scientific knowledge into clinical practice was supported

Enriched by keynote speeches from leading international researchers, scientific sessions and workshops, the conference supported the translation of scientific knowledge into clinical practice.

The conference was held within the scope of TREASURE

The conference was organized within the framework of TREASURE, COST Action 22114, Maternal Perinatal Stress and Adverse Outcomes in the Offspring: Maximising Infants’ Development. Supported by COST, European Cooperation in Science and Technology, the TREASURE network aims to examine the biological, psychological and social effects of parental peripartum stress through an interdisciplinary approach and to strengthen research collaborations across Europe.

Asst. Prof. Demet Gülaldı’s representation of Üsküdar University with her study on such a prestigious international platform increased the global visibility of the university’s academic expertise in the fields of perinatal mental health, family health and child development.
