Üsküdar University hosted an accreditation training
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Üsküdar University hosted a significant event within the scope of quality assurance efforts in higher education. In collaboration with the STAR Accreditation Association, the training program provided comprehensive information on accreditation processes and quality standards implemented at universities.
The event was held in the Socrates Hall of Block E at Üsküdar University South Campus and was attended by the Rector of Üsküdar University Prof. Nazife Güngör, faculty member and Deputy Director of the Center for Strategic Studies Application and Research Assoc. Prof. İbrahim Arslan, as well as members of the STAR Accreditation Association.
Prof. Nazife Güngör: “We attach great importance to quality and accreditation processes”
Delivering the opening speech of the event, Rector of Üsküdar University Prof. Nazife Güngör emphasized the university's commitment to the accreditation process. Güngör said, “As Üsküdar University, we attach great importance to quality and accreditation processes. In 2018, we underwent an external review for the first time through the YÖKAK evaluation. That year was a turning point for us. Since then, almost all departments of our Faculty of Communication and key departments of our Faculty of Engineering have been accredited. Our Department of Psychology has completed this process. Our Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is also progressing along this path. This is our first year collaborating with STAR, and we are very pleased to host you here.”
Assoc. Prof. İbrahim Arslan: “I hope your training process will be productive”
Speaking at the event, Üsküdar University faculty member Assoc. Prof. İbrahim Arslan highlighted STAR’s expertise in evaluation processes. Arslan stated, “All universities in Türkiye are currently focused on the accreditation process. In our field, STAR is one of the most competent institutions. I am also part of STAR’s evaluator pool. I hope the infrastructure we are providing today will contribute to making your training process more productive.”
Assoc. Prof. Turgay Geçer: “We maintain the established culture of quality in Türkiye”
Assoc. Prof. Turgay Geçer, a faculty member at the Department of Business Administration (English) in the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University and an executive of the STAR Accreditation Association, provided information about the structure and areas of activity of the association. Emphasizing that STAR is an authorized accreditation body in the field of social sciences in Türkiye, Geçer stated, “STAR is an accreditation institution affiliated with YÖKAK. Initially, we started with a two-year authorization, followed by a five-year authorization. We operate in a total of 21 fields including social sciences, business, economics, and international relations. We are authorized for 75 different programs under the program accreditation granted by YÖKAK. Due to the structure of our association, we have a general assembly, members, and various committees. Through these structures, we maintain the established culture of quality in Türkiye.”
The training program, hosted by Üsküdar University, provided participants with important information through knowledge sharing, transfer of experience, and the dissemination of quality awareness, contributing to the accreditation processes.
